[00:00:00] Speaker A: On the next episode of sips, suds, and smokes.
[00:00:03] Speaker B: We're gonna hang with crux cigars today, so strap on and hang in tight while we navigate these cigars they sent to us and a couple we picked up along the way.
[00:00:12] Speaker C: Yeah, I did have Woody in my tasting notes, by the way. How about that?
[00:00:16] Speaker D: That's what he said. The magical word. So, yeah.
[00:00:19] Speaker B: Is this pee wee's playhouse in here wood?
[00:00:23] Speaker D: Absolutely. Yes.
[00:00:25] Speaker C: But I did find it smooth. I tasted a little vanilla, creamy, but it did give into a little bit of spiciness throughout medium body.
I did find it a little underwhelming, to be honest.
[00:00:37] Speaker D: Yes, a little underwhelming.
[00:00:42] Speaker C: A little underwhelming.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: You know, I really had higher hopes for these two.
[00:00:45] Speaker E: Oh, gosh.
[00:00:47] Speaker C: Looks like we.
[00:00:47] Speaker B: I just need to lower my expectations.
[00:00:50] Speaker E: We're gonna have the sidebar with these fellas.
[00:00:53] Speaker A: We'll be right back after this break.
Brought to you almost live from the dude in the basement studios.
[00:01:21] Speaker C: Why?
[00:01:22] Speaker A: Cause that's where the good stuff is. It sits, suds and smokes with your smokin host, the good old boys.
Hey, man, got a light? It's time for smokes.
[00:01:57] Speaker B: Welcome to the Smokes episode, folks, where everything good in life is worth the discussing. You're with us today, our host, I'm good old boy barger, and with me is good old boy Mike on the ones and twos.
[00:02:06] Speaker D: I have an exit strategy.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: Yeah, I've seen it.
And good old boy rich.
[00:02:13] Speaker C: Hey, just glad to be here, coach.
[00:02:14] Speaker B: And good old boy Benjamin.
[00:02:16] Speaker E: Don't push the red button.
[00:02:17] Speaker B: How we doing today, fellows?
[00:02:19] Speaker D: Oh, I'm sorry. That was the red button.
[00:02:21] Speaker B: Oh, man. How we feeling today, boys? We good to.
[00:02:26] Speaker D: Yeah. So I'm just as good looking as I was last time you saw me.
[00:02:29] Speaker B: That checks out.
Checks out.
[00:02:31] Speaker D: And I'm just as humble.
[00:02:34] Speaker B: That also checks out.
Well, folks, we're the best thing on at 02:00 a.m. right before those great reruns of golden girls and just after. Where are they now? Where are they now? As you know, and I hope you know, our smoke segments is all about cigars and, well, anything that smokes, well, one day. As for today's segment. Drum roll, please.
We're gonna hang with crux cigars today, so strap on and hang in tight while we navigate these cigars they sent to us and a couple we picked up along the way.
[00:03:07] Speaker D: There's that town in Canada that says, please do not use the word strap on. So I'm here to.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: We'll just have to mute that and post. That's fine. Go ahead, fix it in post. We'll fix it in post. That's fine.
[00:03:18] Speaker D: Great.
[00:03:19] Speaker B: So we're gonna have a fun day today. But don't worry, if you miss anything, you can download the full episode from everywhere. You can get a podcast.
But before we dive into the shallow end of the pool without our helmets, let us remember, if you're a cigar newbie, fret not. We got you covered in our cigar 101 episode where all this cigar speak will be decoded. Just search for sip, suds and smokes cigars 101. And that episode should pop right up on the link below.
Good old boy rich gets the honors of giving our smokes rating today.
[00:03:56] Speaker C: That would be me.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: Take it away.
[00:03:58] Speaker C: All right. We'll be smoking and discussing these cigars and rating them with our sips, suds and smokes. Smokes ratings. Plus our signature sounds. Here are those ratings now. One, this sucked even before it was lit.
Two, at least I lit it.
Three, I'd smoke this again.
Four, how much do you want for them?
[00:04:35] Speaker B: Magnificent.
[00:04:36] Speaker C: And five, where are they? I need a box.
[00:04:44] Speaker B: So crux provided us with some cigars in their line, and I actually picked up two different cigars along the way. So it's going to be a fun little show to you today. The first cigar we're going to go over is their bull and bear robusto. So all of the little quirks of these cigars we pulled straight off their website. So if you guys have anything to add to that, please let us know in the comments.
So the bull and bear robusto curated for those that understand hard work and rewards are not mutually exclusive.
The defiant ones that never rest on their laurels and work to continually improve themselves. This is raw horsepower of flavor with a smoky pull and an authentic experience.
It. As it is, it's confusing there. It's a lifetime of really big words. Really big words. It's a lifetime of wisdom we've wrapped up in a cigar.
[00:05:36] Speaker D: Four and a half. Great.
Did you.
[00:05:39] Speaker B: Did you fifth grade those two two.
[00:05:41] Speaker D: Syllable words like 4.5 is how far you got?
[00:05:44] Speaker B: Yeah, my gp got to the big seven letter words. Yeah, I read good.
[00:05:49] Speaker E: Conjunctions are tough.
[00:05:50] Speaker D: I'm a good reader.
[00:05:51] Speaker E: They took two words. Big words. Yeah, they're really big words. Smashed them together.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:57] Speaker D: Is it good reader or a gooder reader?
[00:05:59] Speaker B: It's a gooder. It's a gooder. So the filler is nicaraguan, the binder is nicaraguan, and the rapper is a nicaraguan. Habano from halapa.
So tell me what you guys thought about this cigar.
[00:06:12] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. You mentioned horsepower. This is horsepower, I heard.
[00:06:16] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
Big, bold horsepower.
[00:06:20] Speaker D: Yeah. So I think that's going to be a common way. I'm going to describe quite a bit of these. It was just a lot of wood up front. Something that, you know, it's kind of overtly sweet in the middle. You know, I thought the wood kind of subsided in the, you know, in the mid part of it, but had this kind of pleasant, sweet, you know, cedar finish off of it. So that was kind of in the middle of the pack, you know, for me. But did I mention there was lots of wood?
You know, there was lots of wood.
[00:06:52] Speaker B: Was there wood in that?
[00:06:53] Speaker D: There was just a little bit.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: I just didn't notice that. How about you guys?
[00:06:57] Speaker D: Hang on, there's a tree falling.
[00:06:58] Speaker B: Oh, I heard that.
[00:06:59] Speaker D: That was. That was the back half of that cigar.
[00:07:01] Speaker B: The tree falls in the wood. Does it make a sound?
[00:07:03] Speaker D: This is the back half of the bull and the bear. I mean, it was just the bear.
[00:07:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:07] Speaker C: You know, I don't know. I got a bit of a tangy, like, metallic flavor out of mine.
[00:07:12] Speaker B: Have you been checked for lead poisoning?
[00:07:14] Speaker C: Yes. Yes. No, it was.
[00:07:16] Speaker B: Are you still eating lead paint?
[00:07:17] Speaker D: It was right in the last 48 hours.
[00:07:21] Speaker C: Rich.
[00:07:23] Speaker B: I noticed you have an aluminum toothpick in your mouth.
[00:07:25] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:07:25] Speaker C: Well, maybe he's turning blue a little bit.
[00:07:28] Speaker D: Stares over there while you looking over here. I don't know about that.
[00:07:32] Speaker C: Every time I turn the microwave on, I lose my memory for about half an hour.
[00:07:36] Speaker D: You know, that's what happens when you drink too much sweet tea.
[00:07:39] Speaker C: Well, you know, it's funny you say that. Cause I did pair this with a half sweet, half unsweet tea.
[00:07:46] Speaker E: Don't tell me you're that guy right now.
[00:07:48] Speaker B: You're that guy. I knew it.
[00:07:50] Speaker D: I'm a half and half.
[00:07:51] Speaker C: Yeah, that may have been something to do with it.
[00:07:52] Speaker B: It's too sweet.
[00:07:53] Speaker E: Not too sweet on my teeth.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: I gotta tone it down.
[00:07:58] Speaker D: Cool. Rich, we can smoke these anytime since you've already figured out the perfect pairing.
[00:08:03] Speaker C: There you go.
[00:08:03] Speaker D: Plus, it will offend two of them and they will just leave us alone.
[00:08:07] Speaker B: I'll bring the chainsaw. It's good.
[00:08:09] Speaker D: Wait a second here.
That's right.
[00:08:14] Speaker B: What about you, Benjamin? What do you think, man?
[00:08:16] Speaker E: This was my. So I've been smoking crux for a couple of years now.
One of our good friends at one of our favorite local tobacconists turned me onto this cigar brand.
[00:08:26] Speaker B: It wasn't on Nader salad.
[00:08:28] Speaker E: I mean, it was. Jordan.
[00:08:29] Speaker B: Jordan. What's up, Jordan?
[00:08:30] Speaker E: And, uh, I think it was like, maybe they had first picked him up or got a new shipment in or something, but he was like, man, I'm really into these right now.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:38] Speaker E: Which is something I lean into, you know, anytime I'm checking out a humidor.
[00:08:42] Speaker B: Yeah. Trust the palate of the employee.
[00:08:44] Speaker E: No, 100%.
And this bull and bear, though it is Woody, that. That bit of sweetness for me does calm it down enough. Yeah, this is a. This is a great after dinner option.
[00:08:56] Speaker B: Like an aperitif digestif.
[00:08:59] Speaker E: But, yeah, dessert. Right. But, uh, all the way. Right. This isn't a dainty little, you know.
[00:09:07] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[00:09:08] Speaker E: Raspberry tart. Right?
[00:09:10] Speaker D: I'm sorry. I thought it was a little woody because it was a little woody.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: So I kind of got that. That heavy, Woody body with the. The little hints of that dark chocolate.
[00:09:21] Speaker E: 100% dark chocolate. The taste of notes that they put out says black pepper. And I didn't.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: I didn't get that either.
[00:09:27] Speaker E: Spice, for me on this thing.
[00:09:29] Speaker D: Negative. This isn't even close.
[00:09:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:09:32] Speaker E: But I do definitely identify well with Rich's comments about the metallic. Right. No.
[00:09:41] Speaker D: With your choice of half.
[00:09:42] Speaker E: No, either do or don't. You know, and so that metallic, it's. And for me, I feel like I consistently pick it up with nicaraguan puros. Some of them have that, like, minerality that. That little bit of, like, stone that you get from. From the soil where they're grown.
[00:10:05] Speaker D: Little sliding on.
[00:10:06] Speaker E: Yeah, some. Sometimes it's overwhelming. This. This was just enough for me.
I like this cigar.
[00:10:13] Speaker B: Yeah, I liked it as well. So let's, uh. What, are we giving it a rating here?
So we're gonna go with force.
It was half and half nificent.
It was half and a half. We rounded up.
[00:10:30] Speaker E: Can't believe it.
[00:10:31] Speaker B: All right, so Ben's gonna give us the. The crux epicure robusto. Let's talk about that.
[00:10:37] Speaker E: Unofficially dubbed the Steve McQueen of cigars.
[00:10:40] Speaker B: Steve McQueen.
[00:10:40] Speaker E: This is the crown jewel in the brand, specifically designed for someone that understands indulgence isn't a bad thing. Epicure is a true testament to the hard work you put in. With a creamy flow and a clean caramel finish. It invokes and brings together the five senses, making for a legendary blend. Just don't call it a comeback. We've been here for years before.
Filler, nicaraguan binder. Nicaraguan rapper. Ecuadorian Connecticut.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: Thoughts that ecuadorian epapurn. That ecuadorian Connecticut really brings out that nicaraguan soil, for me, like, it really pulls out that. That earthy, nutty, kind of just full around good body vibe. You know what I mean?
[00:11:24] Speaker E: So it definitely pulls. Pulls it into a more nutty walnut skin on experience for me. This isn't.
It really tones it down and turns it into something that I thoroughly enjoy.
[00:11:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:42] Speaker E: Anything that kind of takes that terroir driven flavor profile and kind of turns it into, you know, even something that I enjoy, like, locally. Like, it is. It was black walnuts. It was the overriding flavor profile for me on this.
[00:11:56] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:11:56] Speaker E: And I thought it was super delicious to it.
[00:12:00] Speaker B: I think if they. If they did this in a lancero, bro.
[00:12:05] Speaker E: What if they did it in a.
[00:12:06] Speaker D: Oh, I'm sorry I hit you said Lancero. That's just a, you know, that's just a natural gesture I have.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: But the petite lancero is where it's at.
[00:12:15] Speaker D: Yeah, definitely. Not that mike hates those. I'll even. I'll give that two buzzers.
[00:12:20] Speaker B: Just because you said Mike's a six by 70 guy, in case you guys are wondering, he really enjoys those large cigars.
[00:12:29] Speaker D: Is that one and a half or two hands?
[00:12:31] Speaker B: Okay, Mike, what'd you think about it?
[00:12:34] Speaker D: Well, you know, the thing I'm sitting here wondering is every time. Yeah. Why? Well, that. Yeah, that is correct. That is exactly right. Yes. That is a very common theme that I'm thinking of. Exactly. Why am I sitting here? All right, so it was, the thing I was thinking about was every time they used the word Steve McQueen, did he collect, like, royalty rights? I mean, do they have to, like, call and license, you know, to use his name in the, you know, in the marketing copy where he gets part of the clicks.
[00:13:04] Speaker B: Yeah, if they click on it.
[00:13:06] Speaker D: Right. You know, Steve McQueen was there. Or every time you fire up, you know, an epicure that you have to say the word, oh, this tastes like Steve McQueen.
[00:13:14] Speaker C: What is Steve McQueen exactly?
[00:13:15] Speaker B: I think, like, gym socks and porsches maybe mixed together, like you left your socks in the Porsche floorboard and. Yeah, who knows? Well, we're going to take a break. We'll come right back with that review.
And welcome back to the show. I'm so glad that you got to listen to those ads. Please buy whatever they were suggesting.
It really helps. It really helps. So we're talking about the crux epicure robusto.
[00:13:45] Speaker D: So we were just discussing getting screwed so, you know, out of some royalties. Yeah, so, yeah, yeah. You know, so I wonder, you know, when people are using that marketing copy, I mean, is there, like, a dime or a quarter that slides over, you know, to his number state, I don't know.
[00:14:00] Speaker B: Or if they're okay with just like a nod.
[00:14:03] Speaker D: Well, I will talk first about the cigar, but after we're done here, we seriously have to have a good discussion about, you know, sweet tea.
[00:14:12] Speaker B: We will talk about this.
[00:14:13] Speaker D: So for epicure, here are my tasting notes. For the crux epicure. I wrote down a full, full flavor smoked black pepper, more deep wood flavor.
The size of the rick associated with this was 20ft tall.
It was a. I'm sorry, did I mention that it was a lot of wood? Because it's.
It was a lot of wood.
[00:14:47] Speaker C: That's a lot of wood.
[00:14:49] Speaker D: You know, it actually turned a bit quick. Prior to the band for me in the flight we had here from Crux, this wasn't particularly one of my favorites.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: So, Rich, I really like this one. You know, we talked about how before off air, we talked about how it was kind of consistent all the way through. But it, to me, it had that spice that really made it interesting. So that allowed me to smoke it all the way down. I did pick up a little bit of maybe dark cherry. It's kind of what I mean, like.
[00:15:21] Speaker D: A lot of wood and then a lot of wood. Is that what you're trying to say there, rich?
[00:15:26] Speaker B: Mike's on this wood kick today. I guess he's gonna be a lumberjack.
[00:15:29] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:15:29] Speaker E: Almost like it's his surname.
[00:15:30] Speaker C: Yeah, but I did.
[00:15:33] Speaker D: I was telling you about the first cigar. It had a little bit of wood. This one had a lot of.
[00:15:37] Speaker C: A lot of wood.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: Okay, so, all right, so listen, when you just. Rich, you just pinged on a very good topic that I want to dive in a little bit here. Consistency.
[00:15:48] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:49] Speaker B: I will say that out of all five of the cigars that we smoked.
[00:15:55] Speaker D: They all had a lot of wood.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: Well, I will say they were consistent. Yeah, the burns were consistent. The ash was great.
[00:16:04] Speaker D: It's true. I did not run into any construction issues.
[00:16:07] Speaker B: No construction issues in the flavor. There was a couple of them. The flavor was kind of consistent very much on this couple. Like this epicure where it changed halfway through. I really enjoyed that as well.
[00:16:19] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't think consistency is a bad thing necessarily. If it's a good.
[00:16:24] Speaker B: I think it's a great flavor.
[00:16:25] Speaker C: Yeah, well, I mean, you know, if.
[00:16:27] Speaker D: You consistently have everything that tastes like wood, then, you know, I mean, I don't know that that's really kind of a.
Oh, I'm sorry. Did you say consistently wood? Because that's what I heard.
[00:16:41] Speaker B: We're gonna take that thing away from him.
[00:16:43] Speaker C: That's right.
[00:16:45] Speaker B: Now, in the next episode, we tie Mike to the chair.
[00:16:48] Speaker C: That's right.
[00:16:49] Speaker D: Again, I don't think the Benjamin talk.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: Benjamin, tell me what your thoughts.
[00:16:56] Speaker E: I mean. Yeah, absolutely. So this one for me, actually, my least favorite.
[00:17:00] Speaker B: Really?
[00:17:01] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:17:01] Speaker D: That's what I'm talking about.
[00:17:05] Speaker E: Just. Just out of the lineup. This one, even though it does have, like, a decent body to it, there was. There's just, like the. It says in their tasting notes, light pepper. It was maybe light stale pepper for me. Like, it just wasn't arrows.
[00:17:21] Speaker D: Smoked black.
[00:17:22] Speaker E: Yeah, it wasn't. It wasn't something because you were smoking it that I've enjoyed.
You know, I don't think, you know, we've talked about this plenty of times that definitely don't let our opinions skew your opinions.
Go try this.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: Go try them. I encourage everyone to see, and that's one thing that, going back to the consistency, their branding.
[00:17:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:17:46] Speaker B: Absolutely gorgeous. The white boxes with the distinct color bands. Excellent branding. Excellent branding.
[00:17:53] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. That really improved the quality of the.
[00:17:55] Speaker B: Cigar, I think, for me, I mean, it improves the quality of my experience. If I see the consistency throughout the branding and the consistency through the burn and the quality of the construction of the cigar, like, I definitely will enjoy that more than having to work on a canoeing cigar that I can't keep lit.
[00:18:12] Speaker D: Oh, I hate that.
[00:18:13] Speaker B: You know what I'm saying?
[00:18:14] Speaker D: That pisses me off.
[00:18:15] Speaker B: But, you know, I really enjoyed this one as well.
I thought it was, you know, top three out of the. Out of the bunch, for sure.
[00:18:23] Speaker C: I really felt like I could smoke this one any time of day too.
Morning. But it was also rich enough for, like, an after dinner smoke.
[00:18:30] Speaker B: So, yeah, it could definitely be anytime cigar? For sure. Especially the golf course. This would be a great golf course cigar. Yeah, in a petite lancero.
[00:18:39] Speaker E: So golf course cigars.
[00:18:40] Speaker C: What are you doing on the golf course, by the way?
[00:18:45] Speaker B: Walking through the weeds looking for my.
[00:18:47] Speaker C: Ball, looking for the drink cart.
[00:18:53] Speaker B: I got one of those airtags on my ball. You know, that you can find it.
[00:18:57] Speaker E: It's pretty much a portable top golf.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, for sure. So what are we gonna rate this one, guys?
Oh, see, that's a 50 50 split. We're gonna go with a three.
[00:19:08] Speaker E: Makes it a three.
[00:19:14] Speaker D: Well, you know, so I wanted to talk about this whole sweet tea thing. I mean, rich, this is an important topic as a, you know, a true southerner.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: Do we have crickets? That we can play.
[00:19:25] Speaker D: No, this is not, you know, so I can play the tree falling a little more.
[00:19:31] Speaker B: I'm done with the tree. But this is definitely the.
This. This drink choice is definitely the Catalina wine mixer of drinks here.
[00:19:38] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
[00:19:38] Speaker B: Let's talk a little about it.
[00:19:40] Speaker D: Well, so where did you get. Where did you get your.
[00:19:43] Speaker B: So sweaty.
[00:19:44] Speaker C: So we got this at. Where did I say it?
[00:19:47] Speaker D: Loveless.
[00:19:47] Speaker C: Loveless cafe. So it was a half and half. It wasn't the full sweet. It was a half sweet, half unsweet, which I felt.
[00:19:53] Speaker B: But it's still a gallon of sugar for 2oz of tea.
[00:19:57] Speaker E: Proper ratio.
[00:20:01] Speaker D: You cannot get any more diabetes than walking into the loveless cafe.
[00:20:06] Speaker C: That's right.
[00:20:07] Speaker D: And ordering a half and half sweet tea.
[00:20:09] Speaker C: Yes, ma'am.
[00:20:09] Speaker D: I mean, when you walk in, they go, how y'all doing, sweetie? Would you like something to drink today?
[00:20:14] Speaker C: And to be clear, we're talking about iced tea here.
[00:20:17] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
[00:20:18] Speaker B: Yeah. They give it to you while you wait. It's free, complimentary, at the door.
[00:20:21] Speaker D: I know everybody in the UK go.
[00:20:23] Speaker B: To sweet tea and I.
[00:20:26] Speaker E: Split. Base your rums for cocktails, not your tea. Okay?
[00:20:30] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:20:30] Speaker E: Commit here, boys.
There's a reason that there's sweet tea and there's unsweet tea, right. And that's because they're meant to be.
Do you singular experiences.
[00:20:43] Speaker D: Do you know who keeps track of. Of where, you know, you have to serve sweet tea and where you have to serve unsweet tea?
[00:20:50] Speaker B: Do you know, is it next to the dialysis clinic?
[00:20:53] Speaker D: It is. Cracker barrel.
[00:20:54] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. Fair, okay.
[00:20:56] Speaker D: Yes. Cracker barrel keeps track of exactly where they. The line exists where you have to serve sweet tea or unsweet tea. That is correct. Yes. So there's. There's this one person at Cracker barrel. That's their only job. Only job. That is exactly.
[00:21:14] Speaker B: That's the analytics job you need. Right, there you go.
[00:21:17] Speaker D: What do you do? What do you do here?
[00:21:18] Speaker B: Cracker barrel.
[00:21:22] Speaker D: Sweet c arbitrator.
[00:21:24] Speaker B: Well, I don't mean to brag, but I'm a sweet tea expert.
[00:21:28] Speaker D: Here you go. Yeah, but I mean, seriously, when you go through a drive through in the southe and they ask and you're ordering iced tea, sometimes they'll even ask you, you want that full or half and half? Yeah, yeah. And I'm like, where are these places?
[00:21:45] Speaker B: I have no idea.
[00:21:46] Speaker C: All over.
[00:21:46] Speaker D: They do it everywhere. This is Misses Winters. They. They do it there. Yes.
[00:21:51] Speaker B: Where is it? Misses winners. Here, you point out a misses winters and I'll succeed this conversation.
[00:21:57] Speaker D: They'll do it at Hardee's. They do it at Popeyes. Yeah. Where have you been? Where's your southern card? I'm gonna revoke that bad boy.
[00:22:06] Speaker C: And my grandmother made the best sweet tea.
[00:22:09] Speaker E: Did you split it?
[00:22:10] Speaker C: No, I didn't have to.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: All right, then.
[00:22:11] Speaker C: I didn't have to because it was.
[00:22:12] Speaker B: Good the way it is.
[00:22:13] Speaker C: Well, that's sweet.
[00:22:14] Speaker D: She didn't dump a ton of sugar in it. Well, right.
[00:22:17] Speaker E: Oh, so what you're saying is the loveless cafe doesn't know how to make sweet tea?
[00:22:21] Speaker D: No, they know how to make.
[00:22:22] Speaker B: Can we go on record saying that? Excuse me.
[00:22:25] Speaker D: It's starting to feel a lawsuit coming my way as you're saying those words, because that is not true.
[00:22:30] Speaker B: Loveless cafe cannot make three lard biscuits.
[00:22:34] Speaker D: And they drop it in, and they stir clockwise.
[00:22:37] Speaker E: Amen.
[00:22:37] Speaker D: You should know these things.
[00:22:38] Speaker B: I will say those biscuits.
[00:22:39] Speaker E: Amen.
[00:22:40] Speaker B: We talk about biscuits all day.
[00:22:42] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
[00:22:42] Speaker B: I'll fat kid it up with some biscuits.
[00:22:44] Speaker D: Of all the flavors that jam, who's.
[00:22:46] Speaker B: Got the best biscuits?
[00:22:47] Speaker D: What's the best flavor? Jam at loveless. Here we go. This is gonna divide us right here.
[00:22:52] Speaker B: See, I have a strawberry guy.
[00:22:54] Speaker C: I like the strawberry.
[00:22:55] Speaker D: That's when you're a five year old kid.
[00:22:58] Speaker B: I'm required by law, because I'm a ginger. I am required by law to eat a certain amount of red food.
[00:23:06] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:23:06] Speaker B: I have to. So strawberry jam is my thing.
[00:23:09] Speaker D: You have to journal it. Do you have to keep track of it?
[00:23:11] Speaker B: Did you not get the memo?
[00:23:12] Speaker D: I didn't get the memo.
[00:23:13] Speaker B: See, that's the brown. And you come.
[00:23:15] Speaker D: I just. I keep tabs of things in my freckles. I go, you know, grape. One.
[00:23:20] Speaker B: Peach wine.
[00:23:21] Speaker D: Strawberry wine.
[00:23:22] Speaker B: You have to color them in with the different colors.
[00:23:23] Speaker D: No, the best. The best flavor is peach. Absolutely loveless. Hands down. Yes.
[00:23:28] Speaker C: Seasonal, I think. You're not gonna. You're not gonna go wrong with any of the flavors.
[00:23:32] Speaker D: My wife is. She loves the BlackBerry for sure. She's a BlackBerry jam gal. How about it, Benjamin?
[00:23:37] Speaker E: No strawberry.
[00:23:38] Speaker D: Strawberry?
[00:23:39] Speaker E: My entire life. Oh, my gosh. All day. This is. This is a nostalgic thing for me, though.
[00:23:43] Speaker D: Rich, are you feeling of them and us setting in here? Cause I do. Cause it's game on.
[00:23:48] Speaker E: My mother makes strawberry freezer jam every spring.
It's a whole thing.
[00:23:54] Speaker D: I'm gonna put half an empty in your car every day this week. You're gonna get in there and go, what's this? And you take one sip, and you go, wow. This is really good, man.
[00:24:02] Speaker E: There's no way I would be like, this is half and half. Somebody forgot to finish this beverage.
[00:24:10] Speaker D: So listeners, reach out to us. I really want to hear whether you enjoy sweet tea, unsweetened tea, or half and half. If you are married to someone that likes iced tea. Do you guys get along? Can you order the exact same style of iced tea? You know, I think these are important things that we need to know.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: I think we should just circle this back to the cigars here.
[00:24:31] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. This is a cigar show.
[00:24:33] Speaker B: I forgot we're just sitting the sweet tea one. But that's another episode of Sip Sudden Sports.
[00:24:37] Speaker D: Well, it's an important topic.
[00:24:39] Speaker E: Search for it.
[00:24:39] Speaker B: Ask Alexa to search for that.
[00:24:42] Speaker D: Rich, you and I are right.
[00:24:43] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:24:43] Speaker D: That's all I have to say.
[00:24:44] Speaker C: All right, so nothing wrong with the good sweet tea.
[00:24:46] Speaker B: All right, so we ranked that Epicure robusto a three, and we're gonna go on to the.
To the epicure habano robusto. And Rich is gonna tell us about that.
[00:24:58] Speaker C: This is a remarkably crisp. Wouldn't even begin to do epicure Habano justice. And coming from a distinguished family lineage with a name like Epicure, you know, it can hold its own. Its medium blend proudly put its mix of walnut and espresso on a full display in a smooth finish. Epicure Habano might be new to the league, but it's already on the same shelf as the veterans. The filler is nicaraguan. The binder is nicaraguan. The wrapper is surprise nicaraguan habano. And what are your thoughts on this one, guys?
[00:25:35] Speaker B: Well, I want to hear mouth of the south over here first. So, Mike, take it away.
[00:25:39] Speaker D: Well, so the thing that I think is funny is that I actually transposed the Habano and the Connecticut. So those previous tasting notes that I were actually for, he probably cut them.
[00:25:54] Speaker E: In half and tried to fuse them back together.
[00:25:56] Speaker B: I think he got his unsweet with his sweet. Is that what happened?
[00:26:00] Speaker D: What I find funny is I rated them both exactly the same. So would you like to know what I thought of the other one?
[00:26:07] Speaker B: No, no, no, no. Let's just move on to rich. Rich, what'd you think about that?
[00:26:11] Speaker D: Well, so this one had these.
[00:26:12] Speaker B: Oh, you had your time, sir. Oh, yeah, you had your time.
[00:26:15] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
[00:26:16] Speaker B: It had the council yield.
[00:26:17] Speaker D: All you need to know is this, because it had lots of wood. That's all that you need.
Now, the size of this, Rick was about 17ft. So that's really what was different with this epicure you know, as opposed to the other one.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I did.
[00:26:37] Speaker C: You know, I did have woody in my tasting notes, by the way. How about that?
[00:26:40] Speaker D: That's right. He said the magical word. So, yeah.
[00:26:44] Speaker B: Is this pee wee's playhouse? We hear wood.
[00:26:48] Speaker D: Absolutely. Yes.
[00:26:49] Speaker C: But I did find it smooth. I tasted a little vanilla, creamy, but it did give into a little bit of spiciness throughout medium body.
I did find it a little underwhelming, to be honest.
[00:27:02] Speaker D: Yes, a little underwhelming.
[00:27:07] Speaker B: You know, I really had higher hopes for these.
[00:27:10] Speaker E: Oh, my gosh.
[00:27:11] Speaker B: Looks like we just need to lower my expectations.
[00:27:15] Speaker E: The sidebar with these sort of feel like this epicure is, like, kind of their baseline.
[00:27:24] Speaker B: Yeah, right?
[00:27:24] Speaker E: And then we're kind of just changing out the. The rapper shit, probably. Yeah, the habano. The habano wrapper on this. Turns this thing up all the way for me, dude.
[00:27:36] Speaker B: I thought so as well.
[00:27:38] Speaker E: I.
That nice.
This is what pepper supposed to be for me in a cigar. A little bit that white pepper, 100% cocoa, fresh, cracked black walnuts.
[00:27:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Love it.
[00:27:54] Speaker E: This. This is my favorite of all of the ones that we smoke.
[00:28:00] Speaker B: This was my number two.
[00:28:01] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:28:02] Speaker B: But I'll say that out of this cigar. I could smoke this cigar any time, in any size.
[00:28:09] Speaker E: I will be keeping a handful of these in my humidor.
[00:28:13] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:28:14] Speaker E: At all times.
[00:28:15] Speaker B: Absolutely. And we'll take whatever they want to send us to.
Now, listen, I. I really enjoyed this cigar. I got. I got the woods out of it.
[00:28:29] Speaker D: Hey, got a second? You mentioned the word wood. I'm just, you know.
[00:28:34] Speaker B: Sir, we apologize for all these helpers on our show today. We just.
[00:28:38] Speaker E: You could. You could turn this episode into a drinking game.
[00:28:40] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So, I. As we know, if you listen to our episodes, I'm a fan of Habanos. I really like them. And Mike's not really a fan of Habana.
[00:28:50] Speaker D: No, no, no, no. Don't lay that.
[00:28:52] Speaker B: Everyone go back and listen to all the things that Mike.
[00:28:55] Speaker E: She put that evil.
[00:28:56] Speaker B: Somebody can put a list together, email it to me.
[00:28:59] Speaker D: There's at least four habanas that I like on the planet. Okay.
[00:29:03] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, yeah, we're just not gonna go there today.
I actually really, like I said, I really enjoyed the stick. And, you know, I definitely see what you're saying about they're taking the nicaraguan Pirro base and they're putting the different rappers on it, but that. I think that that complements the nicaraguan Piro in it. And I think that each new rapper they put on is opens up that whole different level of complexity out of that puro binder and filler.
[00:29:34] Speaker E: And I think that's a fun point to have with the conversation of cigars in general and how much the rapper means to the cigar.
[00:29:43] Speaker D: Well, I think, you know, looking here in my notes, that you got the right.
I'm saying that it didn't matter which, whether it was the Connecticut or the habano.
[00:29:53] Speaker B: I thought they both were Connecticut.
[00:29:56] Speaker D: So I arrived at. I think that sucks.
I did. I just, you know, I. I just did not enjoy the. The combo between the two. I actually like the habana better writing. Yeah. But for you to record it, it's the same things you're saying, Benjamin. I liked it kicked up, and I thought that it. The Connecticut felt like just a floor mat that, you know, the filler and binder were just stomping all over it, and it was just completely unbalanced. But when you swapped out and had the fuller body, you know, habana wrapper, I was like, okay, this is standing up to it. It still sucks, but I thought that it had a fighting chance.
[00:30:39] Speaker C: I did not think it sucked.
[00:30:40] Speaker B: Just PSA Mike's views and opinions do not reflect the views and opinions of sip sudden smoke, necessarily. Throw that up.
[00:30:47] Speaker D: I can fix that in post.
[00:30:51] Speaker B: You know, I think that that's good to consider, is that, you know, you liked that one more than you liked the other one, and. But that shows the difference in the Habano wrapper as opposed to ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.
[00:31:05] Speaker D: I'm sorry, did you miss the part where I mentioned it had a little bit of wood?
[00:31:08] Speaker B: Yeah, I got the wood.
[00:31:10] Speaker D: Both of them?
[00:31:10] Speaker B: I got the wood for sure.
But let's go ahead and give it a rating here. What do we think, folks?
We're going to go fours.
Magnificent.
Alrighty, folks, so we have reached that time in our show where we like to ask Mike anything.
[00:31:33] Speaker D: Ooh. Oh, this is. This is dangerous. Yeah, let's see. Sure.
[00:31:40] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:31:44] Speaker D: Cool. A microphone. You're asking me questions. You have no idea what I'm gonna say.
[00:31:48] Speaker B: That's right out of this lineup. Which one would you smoke in the golf course?
[00:31:52] Speaker D: Ooh. Huh?
[00:31:55] Speaker B: 30 seconds.
[00:31:56] Speaker D: Oh. 30 seconds. Oh, man, I don't think so.
You know, I'm not a golf course smoking. You know, I have not found those two things pair very well. I would probably choose the habana just because I know it sucks and I wouldn't interfere with my golf game.
[00:32:16] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't think I'd go to the golf course if I couldn't smoke.
[00:32:19] Speaker B: Well, you can't play golf.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: Well, that's another full.
[00:32:23] Speaker C: That's why.
[00:32:26] Speaker B: Oh, man. Mike, those questions we asked were so awesome. I'm so glad we got to know more about you.
[00:32:32] Speaker D: My favorite color, chartreuse.
[00:32:34] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the liquor. So good. The name, the color after.
[00:32:37] Speaker D: See, I am a die hard fan.
[00:32:40] Speaker B: Wait, is it a Christmas movie or not a Christmas movie?
[00:32:42] Speaker C: Definitely a Christmas Christmas.
[00:32:44] Speaker D: Definitely Christmas.
[00:32:46] Speaker B: That settles it. That settles it.
[00:32:47] Speaker D: It's just the way you get to say nakatomi.
[00:32:50] Speaker B: Oh. Oh. Hey. We're back. We're back, guys.
[00:32:52] Speaker E: We're back.
[00:32:52] Speaker B: We're back. Oh, hey, guys. Welcome back from the commercials. We were just going over those questions for you guys in post.
We'd like to.
Want to take a chance to thanks, crux for giving us the opportunity to sample their lineup and go over their product. They also give us a really cool backpack that we're going to work into. A giveaway.
[00:33:13] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
[00:33:14] Speaker B: So when that giveaway happens, we'll be.
[00:33:16] Speaker D: Sure to keep your eyes full of wood and then ship.
[00:33:19] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
Packet full of cedar. If you do this, cedar splits.
[00:33:25] Speaker D: There you go. The backpack full of cedars.
[00:33:27] Speaker B: And there may or may not be crux cigars in it when we send it to you, so we'll see. But we picked up a couple different cigars along the way. Like I said, we picked up their limitata toro, the newest one that just released at PCA. And then it came out recently, and then we did the crux de connoisseur number one, Lancero. Favorite size.
And I'm gonna go over the limitata with you guys today.
[00:33:53] Speaker D: Cool.
[00:33:53] Speaker B: So, appropriately, appropriately named Limitata intelligently premium. With only a thousand boxes produced a year, the limitata is rooted in exclusivity superior with notes of earth and pepper. This limited edition cigar has the anatomy of exceptional tobacco. When quality and craftsmanship get rolled into one, it becomes a national treasure that only makes select appearances during prime time.
Is that kind of like the presidency?
[00:34:22] Speaker E: I thought they were talking about Deon Sanders, bro.
[00:34:25] Speaker B: Like old Dion Sanders or, like, now John Sanders.
[00:34:28] Speaker E: Is there a difference?
[00:34:29] Speaker B: I mean, I don't think he could.
[00:34:30] Speaker D: Run like, he went with both feet working or just want.
[00:34:33] Speaker B: Nice, man, that's, like, in a wheelchair now.
[00:34:35] Speaker E: No, come on.
[00:34:37] Speaker D: They haven't cut it off yet.
[00:34:38] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
The filler is Dominican and Nicaragua. The binder is Connecticut broadleaf, and the rapper is Nicaragua. What did you guys think about this cigar, rich?
[00:34:48] Speaker C: Yeah, I got. I got a lot of pepper off the light on this?
[00:34:50] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:34:51] Speaker C: And it sat down pretty good after that.
I was kind of excited when I first started smoking it, but after about a third of it got a little, should I dare say, a little woody.
[00:35:05] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:35:06] Speaker C: Sorry.
[00:35:08] Speaker B: I hate you people sometimes.
There's nothing wrong with the little tree fibers.
[00:35:16] Speaker E: Yes, that's it right there.
[00:35:20] Speaker B: Little tree fibers in your cigar.
[00:35:23] Speaker C: Ultimately, I felt like this wouldn't kind of fit in with the others. It was good, but it didn't take me anywhere, if that makes sense.
[00:35:34] Speaker B: It was my favorite in the bunch, of course.
[00:35:36] Speaker E: So this is definitely one I.
One and two with.
[00:35:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:35:40] Speaker E: This one in the habana.
[00:35:41] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. This is my. Was my favorite. I'm actually glad I picked them up for you guys. The smoke, because the size that we got was that I was able to pick up was the five by seven, five by 54.
Great cigar. Just all around. Good, earthy tones. Good. You could really get that soil out. You could really taste that, that, that. That farminess to it. And, you know, I'm not gonna say what you think I'm gonna say with the w word.
It was really w for me.
[00:36:16] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:36:17] Speaker B: And. But it also, like, the dark chocolate came out over top of that for me. And, yeah, little shock who said it, but, you know, that. That chocolatey note. And for me, again, I go back to consistency. And, you know, all jokes aside, there are a lot of brands that. That have a lot of quality cigars, but then they have construction issues.
[00:36:48] Speaker D: You know, we didn't have any.
[00:36:50] Speaker B: Not out of the four of us in this room today, didn't have a single construction issue with any.
[00:36:56] Speaker D: That's pretty amazing.
[00:36:57] Speaker B: And that, to me, speaks volumes of the brand. Like, on top of branding, I can say, hey, you need to go try this cigar, because this cigar will not let you down.
And. And, you know, it may or may not be foresty.
[00:37:13] Speaker E: Have a bit of arbor accentuating it.
[00:37:19] Speaker B: Shall we call it tree service?
[00:37:25] Speaker D: You knew that was gonna happen.
This little chipper.
[00:37:29] Speaker C: If you are a druid, you would appreciate this.
[00:37:32] Speaker B: Yeah, druid.
Great. A jewish princess.
[00:37:36] Speaker E: Yeah. Big fan of this cigar. Chocolatey creamy in all the right ways. This is. This is the little bit of, like, cream on the top of an espresso, though, right? Like, it's got more of a depth to it. It's not. I'm not. I'm not thinking, like, whipped cream kind of creaminess, right? We're not, we're not thinking, like, milk. This is a nice spoon on top of a cappuccino right here.
[00:38:10] Speaker B: Can you spell that eSp.
[00:38:12] Speaker E: Uma.
[00:38:15] Speaker C: Ding.
[00:38:16] Speaker E: Right.
But absolutely. This is another one that, you know, even though the limited production, if you have your chance to get your hands on it, I think this is definitely worth grabbing, too. You want to share this with a friend? Pair this with a nice rum?
[00:38:31] Speaker B: Absolutely. A great room would be awesome.
[00:38:35] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:38:35] Speaker B: Barbados.
[00:38:36] Speaker E: Like, big time. Big oft, man.
[00:38:40] Speaker B: Get you some privateer.
[00:38:41] Speaker D: Yeah, those are some good choices. Yeah.
[00:38:44] Speaker B: That would be so great, because it would bring that chocolatey out, but it would also add you a little bit of citrus to it.
[00:38:50] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:38:51] Speaker D: Mmm.
[00:38:51] Speaker C: Sweetie.
[00:38:52] Speaker E: Loser. Copper.
[00:38:54] Speaker B: Copper would be good.
[00:38:55] Speaker E: Probably unsweet.
[00:38:57] Speaker B: Yeah, probably unsweet.
[00:38:58] Speaker E: Just unsweet, though.
[00:39:00] Speaker B: Maybe some black or some Earl Grey.
[00:39:03] Speaker E: I'll be fan of.
[00:39:04] Speaker D: I'll be quick with my comments.
Well, you know, did you. Don't get ahead of the finger.
[00:39:15] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:39:17] Speaker D: Seriously, it's not a good time.
So, you know, so this was the very. This is the first stick that I grabbed out of the flight because it was one I'd never had before, and I was very excited. I was like, oh, I had read about it, and, like, well, this. This actually sounds, you know, rather interesting.
[00:39:38] Speaker B: You are talking about the right cigar, right?
[00:39:40] Speaker D: I am talking about the limitata.
[00:39:41] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:39:42] Speaker D: I am just making sure. So I like the word toro, not the word petite. Lancero.
[00:39:47] Speaker E: But.
[00:39:48] Speaker D: So I was like, okay, this will be something a little bit different.
And I wrote down the word cedar, which is a. And then some other words about it being.
[00:40:06] Speaker E: Timber.
[00:40:08] Speaker B: So you picked up some tree in it.
[00:40:09] Speaker D: It was very woody, like a rick of wood. It's what I wrote down. So there you have it. You know, so it was kind of in the middle of the product line for me. I didn't think it was like, this is amazing. It's a limited series, you know, so I.
You know, it was probably my second favorite out of the flight.
[00:40:27] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:40:28] Speaker D: But it's just. Just a little, you know, had that thing on it, so. Yeah.
[00:40:32] Speaker B: Something to say? Because you look like you had something to say over there.
No. Okay, well, let's give it the rating, boys. What do we got here?
Fours?
[00:40:43] Speaker D: No, not all fours.
[00:40:46] Speaker E: It was a four across the board.
[00:40:51] Speaker D: Felt like something smacked me on it.
[00:40:53] Speaker B: Maybe. Maybe 3.549.
[00:40:55] Speaker D: We'll go see if I can read these.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: Big Sir Mike's gonna go over the crooks deconcier number one. Lancero.
[00:41:03] Speaker D: Yes.
So for this particular cigar, here is their marketing schtick. Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens. Did you hear that?
[00:41:14] Speaker B: You're the one with the keyboard.
[00:41:15] Speaker D: Mm hmm. Yeah. You're not listening anyway.
That's why wisdom does not listen. Yeah. So dew connoisseur is crafted for the maverick and all of us, for the soul man. Hand wired to go against the grain, but still staying true nonetheless. Duke Connoisseur is captivatingly rich, revealing its true glory with notes of carmel and espresso for a restrained finish. I never use the words restrained and espresso in the same sentence, but it's distinctive.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: Is it half and half?
[00:41:46] Speaker D: No, it's distinctive shape is the perfect partner for introspective nights. As opposed to what other kind of nights are there? And restless spirits. Wow. This filler is honduran. The bonder is. The binder is nicaraguan. The rapper is habano jalapo.
What did you think about it, Benjamin?
[00:42:10] Speaker E: Bottom of the totem pole for me, this thing. And I think because I was able to decisively delineate flavor profile advancement through the rest of the line, well, this.
[00:42:28] Speaker D: Thing was not like the others.
[00:42:29] Speaker E: This. This one was kind of single note for me, dare I say, just kind of ho hum. I didn't really. I wasn't super stoked about smoking this. About halfway through it, which is something I don't often experience.
I think it's worth revisiting, maybe there. I feel like there's something that I'm missing, the way that everybody's looking at me right now.
[00:42:55] Speaker B: So I'm just going to chime in here for a second. I agree with you that this was the bottom of the list for me.
[00:43:07] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:43:08] Speaker B: Which is extremely painful because lancero is my favorite size.
[00:43:12] Speaker C: Interesting.
[00:43:15] Speaker B: I thought that it really didn't change flavor.
[00:43:22] Speaker E: Same.
[00:43:22] Speaker B: And it was consistent. And the burn was consistent. It was very well constructed cigar. But you expect when you're smoking a lancero that you're going to hit those flavor profile changes throughout it. And it just didn't happen for me.
[00:43:37] Speaker D: Hmm.
[00:43:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Mike.
[00:43:41] Speaker D: This was mild up front. I thought it was very well balanced. There were some burnt sugars and caramel in the middle. Kind of easy would see. I'm not gonna hit the button on that one.
Yes, I had. What was it? It was an introspective night, so it was sweet on the finish. I thought this was above average. This was my best of the flight. I actually like this.
[00:44:08] Speaker B: So you like half and half sweet, unsweet tea and cigars that don't.
[00:44:12] Speaker D: And a dew connoisseur. Yeah. No, this had flavor.
[00:44:15] Speaker E: That's it.
[00:44:15] Speaker B: That tracks.
[00:44:16] Speaker D: I thought it's interesting. I don't read the marketing, you know, tasting notes in advance, and I thought it was interesting that it of, you know, paired up with it. So.
[00:44:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:44:26] Speaker D: All right.
[00:44:27] Speaker C: Yeah. I I did not find it bold. I found it, um.
I used the word subdued. The flavors were a bit subdued. Oh, I won't use the w retrospective.
[00:44:37] Speaker E: Restrained.
[00:44:38] Speaker C: A little restrained. Um, it had a great looking.
[00:44:42] Speaker D: A bono that beat you over the head.
[00:44:46] Speaker C: Did find it a little nutty in a non introspective way, but I think it got really good towards the end, especially for me. I did pick up a little bit more spice as I went through, but.
[00:44:59] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:44:59] Speaker C: Yeah, I thought it was good. I think for me, this was number two.
[00:45:03] Speaker B: So ratings.
[00:45:07] Speaker D: Finally.
[00:45:10] Speaker B: We lost on that one.
[00:45:14] Speaker E: Sometimes you're right, sometimes.
[00:45:16] Speaker B: So I do. I do want to take a moment here. I know we only have a short time left in our luscious voices this evening.
I want to just remind the listeners that taste is subjective. Yep. You like what you like, and you don't like what you don't like. So, you know, all jokes aside, we like to tell all of our listeners, give it a try, go out to a shop, ask for some croaks, give them a try. For sure they're, you know, a solid brand.
[00:45:45] Speaker D: Don't stare.
[00:45:46] Speaker B: A solid brand.
[00:45:46] Speaker C: When I did feel like you're getting your money's worth here.
[00:45:49] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:45:50] Speaker C: Whatever. Whatever our criticisms are, you're getting your money's worth it. It's worth the smoke all the way around.
[00:45:56] Speaker B: So, other than teas, what did we pair?
[00:45:59] Speaker D: Hmm.
[00:45:59] Speaker C: I had some coffee was good.
[00:46:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:01] Speaker C: Black coffees.
[00:46:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:03] Speaker C: And some water.
[00:46:04] Speaker B: I had some bourbons.
[00:46:06] Speaker D: Yeah. I had this in a couple of tasting rounds with a lot of. A lot of things. Whiskey, rum, scotch. Yeah. I didn't really find anything that I.
[00:46:15] Speaker B: Was like, I wouldn't have put scotch with them. Cause as much wood as you picked up, why would you want to put peat on top of that?
[00:46:20] Speaker D: I intentionally had.
[00:46:21] Speaker E: Scotch is peaty, dude. Chill.
[00:46:23] Speaker D: I actually had that privateer rum that you have in front of you with the delicious habano, and I actually like the rum more than I did the cigar, so I thought the rum was for you. I thought the rum was rescuing the cigar. You know, the whole time, I was like, wow, thank God there's something stand up to a little bit of this wood.
[00:46:46] Speaker B: Well, all right, so what are y'all's favorites out of this line?
[00:46:52] Speaker D: I already said mine was the du connoisseur.
[00:46:55] Speaker B: Du connoisseur. I'm a lemitada. You're a lematata.
[00:46:58] Speaker E: Epicure. Habano.
[00:46:59] Speaker B: Okay. Epicure habano.
[00:47:00] Speaker C: I'm gonna go with epicure. Connecticut.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: Okay, well, see, there's a lot of different taste palates here represented. So all in all, crux, you guys are doing a good job.
Chris, great. Dude. The one that hooked us up with this today.
[00:47:13] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:47:14] Speaker B: He also has the world's largest pumpkin, I think.
[00:47:19] Speaker D: Really?
[00:47:19] Speaker B: Or something? Some kind of gourd of. Oh, it might be a carrot. I can't remember. It's. He's got a Guinness. He's got a Guinness world record of something.
[00:47:30] Speaker D: So where do you put that on your resume? Do you put it at the top lead with that?
[00:47:33] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:47:34] Speaker E: Special skills and talent?
[00:47:35] Speaker D: Is that how you openly. Is it, like, your superpower for small talk? Hey. Hey. My name is Chris. I grew the biggest carrot.
[00:47:43] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is the. It is a carrot. Absolutely a carrot.
[00:47:48] Speaker D: Cool.
[00:47:49] Speaker C: Giant root, huh?
[00:47:50] Speaker B: And there's a picture of him with it. It was the world's largest carrot.
[00:47:53] Speaker D: Oh, that's chick magnet.
[00:47:54] Speaker B: I mean, this carrot is, like, the size of his torso.
[00:47:58] Speaker E: That's a wild looking carrot.
[00:48:00] Speaker B: That's a wild looking carrot.
[00:48:01] Speaker D: Do you get, like, free daiquiris at Applebee's if you, you know, largest carrot.
[00:48:06] Speaker B: Dude, dude's got a Guinness Walker World records in his.
[00:48:10] Speaker D: Under his belt, so I have one. I am the world's biggest hater.
[00:48:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:48:15] Speaker E: Nice.
[00:48:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, that's believable. Well, guys, I really want to appreciate everybody for coming out like you want to, but I want to, but I'm not so good, everybody.
Good old boy. Mike, what do you have on us today?
[00:48:29] Speaker D: You know, I think that you should decide exactly what kind of sweet tea that you need to enjoy in life, you know, before you're going to sit down and enjoy any of these cigars. Yeah. You know, for sure.
But, you know, I. I thought it was a really good line. You should go and check it out.
Listen, thanks for enjoying us on this episode of sip sodes and smokes. I will ask you to keep on.
[00:48:54] Speaker C: Sipping and smoking, Rich. Yeah.
[00:48:58] Speaker B: And smoking. That's all you're gonna say?
[00:48:59] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:49:00] Speaker B: Not thanks for being here.
[00:49:01] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Thanks for having me.
[00:49:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. You're welcome, Rich. That's cool.
[00:49:05] Speaker E: Always good to see you, dude.
[00:49:06] Speaker B: Always good.
[00:49:07] Speaker D: I'm just glad you said the word sweet or unsweet.
[00:49:09] Speaker E: Stop mixing your teeth.
[00:49:10] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Don't mix your teas.
[00:49:11] Speaker D: It's not like crossing the street.
[00:49:12] Speaker B: Don't be like those people. Those are serial killers that mix teas. Yeah, those are serial killers and I'm good old boy barger. And I'll ask you to keep smoking whatever you're smoking with your right hand.
[00:49:23] Speaker D: Or your left hand today.
[00:49:24] Speaker B: You pick.
You pick. We could do both.
[00:49:27] Speaker D: Let's talk about the guy with the arm.
[00:49:28] Speaker B: Ambidextrous.
Yeah, we'll save that for the next episode.
[00:49:32] Speaker D: Save us for another episode for sure.
[00:49:33] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:49:34] Speaker D: Yeah. I don't think the arm would have picked the limitata.
[00:49:37] Speaker B: No, it probably would have beat itself to death.
Anyway, thanks for listening, folks, and y'all have a wonderful evening.
